The state-owned operator has started enhancing the capacity of its Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) to migrate to the system installed by Chinese telecom vendor Huawei Technologies. NT will complete migration to the new system from Thursday.
At present, there are 60 BTSs in Pokhara. NT plans to install new equipment in those BTSs within a week.
Officials of NT believe they would be able to provide fast data services to its consumers once migration to the new system is completed. Prakashman Pradhan, chief of NT Pokhara Office, said the new system will replace the old network installed by ZTE. “We have long been receiving complaints on our Internet service. The new system will provide fast Internet service,” he assured.
According to Pradhan, costumers in Kathmandu, Hetauda, Bharatpur, Ilam, Banepa and other cities have already been enjoying fast Internet service through the new system.
The new system installed by Huawei will offer Internet of up to 7.2 Mbps.
