Participants of an interaction organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday said Nepali IT companies should explore international market for their products and services.

Speaking at the program, Nischal Man Pradhan, CEO of Braindigit IT Solution, said Nepal IT companies were getting less benefit as they have to work with middlemen. “We have to take the service of middlemen as we don´t have direct relation with foreign companies,” he said, adding that around 60 percent of the total value of their business goes to the pocket of middlemen.

“Nepal can be a good outsourcing hub as it has cheaper human resource and strategically located between India and China which are home to big companies,” he added.

More than 1,000 IT companies are registered with the government. Some 4,000 IT companies are in operation without registering with the government. Among them, only a few are involved in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and product development.

Shovan Sainju, secretary general of ICT Association of Nepal, requested the Embassy of United States to America to organize programs for providing platform for Nepali IT companies to showcase their potential.

“We request the US Embassy to allow our delegates to visit the companies in United States and bring delegates from there in Nepal so that Nepali IT companies can establish direct link with foreign companies,” added Sainju.

Todd Jungenberg, economic and commercial officer at the Embassy of the Unites States of America, suggested to the ICT Association of Nepal to request the government for include IT in the Trade and Investment Framework agreement (TIFA).
