Kathmandu, August 15, 2016 -- Ncell Private Limited (“Ncell”) and Axiata Group Berhad (“Axiata” or “the Group”) announces the unveiling of new brand logo of ‘Ncell - an Axiata company’ on August 16 (Tuesday). Axiata is the sole investor in Reynolds Holdings, which holds 80% shares of Ncell.

The rebranding of Ncell marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the company. Ncell and Axiata is committed over the long-term, to invest and contribute to Nepal’s development by building quality networks and bringing connectivity to people in the remotest areas of Nepal.

Therefore, the company looks forward to imminently receiving the 4G/LTE spectrum from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority in order to serve the community better.
In addition to the NPR 12 billion Ncell has committed in capex investment in 2016, Ncell now pledges to invest NPR 70 billion in capex and opex over the next two years as part of its commitment to deliver exceptional performance for its loyal Nepali customers.

Along with the unveiling of the new brand logo, Ncell on August 16 is also launching the new festive campaign, offering on net 50 minutes talk time and 500 SMS to all Ncell customers.

All Ncell customers can take part in the campaign through free activation, which can be done by dialing *17121#. 50 minutes talk time and 500 SMS on net resources received under the campaign will be valid for seven days from the date of activation, and customers can use it to call and send SMS to any other Ncell number.

The campaign will remain in place for 15 days, that is, till August 30. Resources will be provided only once during the campaign period.

Software Engineer - UNESCO (Kathmandu)

NESCO seeks applications from qualified and experienced Nepalese nationals for a Python/Django Software Engineer as a Consultant. He/she will be full-time based in the Department of Archaeology (DoA). The duration of the assignment will be from 1 September to 31 December 2016, and is extendable depending upon performance and availability of fund.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the overall authority of the UNESCO Representative to Nepal and Head of Office and direct supervision of the Culture Unit, the incumbent shall support customization and development of Nepal Cultural Heritage Information Management System (CHIMS) at the DoA.  Nepal CHIMS will be customized based on an open source software Arches Heritage Inventory and Management System (www.archesproject.org), so familiarity with the software is very important. Additionally, technical support for creating Movable CHIMS is also essential.
Major responsibilities are:
-       Technical support in developing, managing and customizing Nepal Cultural Heritage Information Management System (CHIMS) and Movable CHIMS;
-       Train government officials in using and managing the systems;
-       Record own works and write necessary documents to sustain the systems
-       Support data import activity;
-       Ensure system maintenance, security, backup and restoration;
-       Provide technical support and guidance to government officials;
-       Perform any other duties as per need of the Department of Archaeology, Government of Nepal, and UNESCO
Qualifications required:
Education
·         BEng/BSc in Computer Science or Engineering / IT related Bachelor’s degree, 2 -3 years of experience in Python/Django framework is preferable
Competencies
·         Fluency in Python/Django web development
·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in multicultural environment with external and internal partners;
·         Team-oriented individual: self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work without detailed guidance;
·         Good communication skills (verbally and in writing);
·         Energetic, result-oriented, and interested in quality;
·         Solid computer skills including advanced knowledge of office software such as Word and Excel.
Languages
·         Excellent Nepali and English (Understanding, reading, speaking and writing)
Note:
The working hours at the DoA is from 10 AM to 5 PM from Sunday to Friday as per government rules and regulations.
Assessment Method:
The evaluation of qualified candidates may include code tests followed by interviews with presentation
